Our aim is simple – to provide a happy, fulfilled and comfortable way of life for each person, whether they live with us permanently or choose short term care.

How are we special?

Our service is particularly developed for people with severe and profound learning disabilities and other associated complex needs such as physical disabilities, sensory impairments and epilepsy.

We employ an experienced physiotherapist and a speech and language therapist. This enables our service users to have quick and expert input if they need it.

Our staff teams are highly trained and motivated. Training programmes go above and beyond mandatory courses and are run by experienced specialists who work specifically with adults with severe learning disabilities. They include: Effective communication and Intensive Interaction (an essential and rewarding way of communicating), safe-swallowing, the causes and consequences of disabilities, epilepsy, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Dementia, Blind Awareness, signing and peg feeding amongst others.

Each service user has a carefully prepared health action plan, a detailed care plan and a person-centred plan. These are reviewed and updated regularly. A Lifestyle programme (see ‘Lifestyle’) managed by an experienced teacher, is tailored to their needs and desires. If a physiotherapy programme is required this is also put into place.

Due to physical conditions such as cerebral palsy, some individuals have problems swallowing. We employ two specially trained cooks who cater for particular dietary needs. Tasty, freshly-prepared, nutritious food is very high on our agenda.

Care and homes are inspected by C.S.C.I. (Commission for Social Care Inspection),the Fire Service and Environmental Health.

We are holders of The Investors In People Award and are working towards the Investors in Excellence Award.

We have specialist equipment to make life easier and more enjoyable. Examples include rise and fall jacuzzi baths, underfloor heating, sensory areas, spacious wet rooms/ bathrooms and profiling beds. Individuals are assessed for their own specific equipment.
